Sasol Bursary South Africa 2019






ABOUT THE COMPANY – SASOL

Sasol Limited was founded in Sasolburg, South Africa in the year 1950 and is the very first oil-from-coal company. It is integrated chemical and energy firm, with over 30 000 employees across 33 countries.
Sasol are known for their development and commercialisation of technologies, as well as building and operating global scale facilities in order to create electricity, chemicals and fuel.
Sasol’s bursary programme is known to be one of the best, with its all-inclusive package. Students who are studying full-time in the Science, Accounting or Engineering fields are welcomed to apply.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

The Sasol Foundation will be awarding 2 types of bursaries:
1) A bursary for students pursuing an Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in one of the STEM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
2) A bursary for children of Sasol employees/ Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders/ students from a Sasol fenceline community, pursuing STEM or Non-STEM studies.
The bursary will cover the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, exam fees, accommodation in a single room at a university residence, meal allowance, book allowance and pocket money.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted between 15 and 28 January 2019, with the final selection to be communicated by 30 January 2019.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
STEM students:
  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time towards a STEM qualification (Undergraduate Degree/ Diploma)
  • Have been accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised University/ University of Technology/ TVET College in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum result of 50% for all subjects
  • Have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum
  • Preference will be given to students with good academic records and those in financial need
STEM/ Non-STEM students:
  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time towards a STEM or Non-STEM qualification
  • Have been accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised University/ University of Technology/ TVET College in South Africa
  • A child of a Sasol employee/ Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders/ from a Sasol fenceline community

Students who meet the minimum eligibility criteria and would like to apply, must do so by following these steps:

2) Verify your account by following the prompts on the activation email
3) Login here: https://sasolbursaries.com/login
4) Click the Sasol Foundation Bursary application (top left hand corner)
5) Complete the application form
6) Read and accept the conditions of the disclaimer

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation on your online application profile (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):
  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric September results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Tertiary final results, if currently at tertiary level (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance/ conditional acceptance at a tertiary institute
  • Proof of registration, if currently studying
  • Proof of household income (parents/ guardians payslips if employed/ letter from Department of Labour if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased
  • Share certificate, if you are/ you are a child of a Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo Shareholder
